The peacock seen wandering around Wahackme Road on Monday afternoon is back home, according to police. The exotic bird’s Ponus Ridge owner saw an article about it, and the peacock was located and returned to its pen with three others.

New Canaan Library recently appointed two new members to its Board of Trustees, Thomas Teles and David Rucci. They join Marie Dolan, Thomas Joyce, and Christopher O’Connor who have been appointed in recent months.
Teles, recently retired from Goldman Sachs after 21 years at the firm. He was a partner in the asset management unit. Teles also serves on the board of the Touch Foundation, a nonprofit organization that works to strengthen the healthcare system in Tanzania. He lives here with his wife Sharon and their children.
David Rucci, his wife Barbara, and children are longtime residents of New Canaan. Rucci is a partner at the law firm of Lampert Toohey & Rucci, LLC, and a member of both the New Canaan Bar Association and the Rotary Club of New Canaan. He has served on the boards of the New Canaan Community Foundation, Lakeview Cemetery Association and The Getabout. In addition to New Canaan Library, he currently serves as a board member for the New Canaan Chamber of Commerce.

The planned transfer in ownership of the “Ponus Ridge Chapel” property has gone through, according to records on file with the Town Clerk’s office. The association that had owned the property at 424 Ponus Ridge for decades transferred the property to New Canaan Library through a quitclaim deed, and then it transferred again to PRC, LLC, whose principals are next-door neighbors Brendan and Ainsley Hayes. Both transfers were made for $1, according to the deeds.

Congratulations to New Canaan resident and King School senior Mallory Ehlers, New Canaan, one of just four students in the school’s Advanced Mathematics and Science Research Program. It serves a small group of students each year who excel in science, technology, engineering or mathematics and are then selected for independent study and competition preparation and a laboratory research experience. Mallory is working with Dr. Jan Grimm, a physician scientist at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City.

Police at about 7:46 p.m. Wednesday charged a 20-year-old Norwalk man with possession of more than .5 ounces of marijuana after stopping the car he was riding in on Old Norwalk Road for having a shattered windshield.

New Canaan Realtors donated funds to the New Canaan Department of Human Services “Warm Up Fund,” which assists local families in need of help with their utility and heating bills over the winter.

The town on Dec. 5 issued a building permit for a new 10,700-square-foot house at 95 Devonwood Lane, and on Dec. 6 issued a building permit for a new 5,215-square-foot house at 211 Oenoke Ridge Road.

Finally, a bit of personal news offered up to satisfy some of those whose parking ticket appeals we feature regularly here on New Canaanite: I got a $30 parking ticket at 10:52 a.m. Wednesday for parking in a loading zone at Main Street and East Avenue.
I will not be appealing this ticket.
