Police: Bridgeport Man Stole $11,000 from Patients at Residential Treatment Facility

A Bridgeport man stole money from two patients at a residential treatment facility this spring and was arrested Tuesday, police said. New Canaan police described what happened with this account, including accusations not proven in court:

Police received complaints about identity theft from patients at the facility on March 28 and April 18. The 29-year-old man, an employee at the facility where both patients were being treated, stole over $11,000. The money was used to buy items on Amazon Marketplace. He used some of the funds opened an account with Southern Connecticut Gas for a home in Bridgeport.

New Canaan Police found the man at his New Haven home, where New Haven Police temporarily took him into custody. New Canaan officers then took him into custody at about 9:30 p.m., Friday, Aug.

Police: Teenage Drinking Party Ends with Charges Against Two Teens

When police broke up a party with teenagers drinking alcohol, they charged the teenage host with allowing the drinking and charged a partygoer after he initially refused to open the door to the closet he was hiding in, police said. New Canaan police gave this account of what happened, including accusations not proven in court:

Police officers were dispatched to the area of Soundview Lane and Laurel Road, Thursday night, Aug. 3, where officers determined that the party was occurring at 538 Laurel Road, according to the police report. An 18-year-old man was hiding in a closet on the second floor of the home and refused to open the closet door at the request of investigating officers. He was charged with interfering with an officer.

Police: Angry Teenager Threatened, Threw Glasses at Mother

An 18-year-0ld Sunrise Avenue resident in an argument with his mother said he’d shoot his her if he had a gun (he didn’t), then got on a plane and went to Nantucket, New Canaan police said. The incident happened in an argument on July 25, and was reported to police at 3 p.m. the next day, although by 5 p.m. the son had gone to Westchester County Airport and took a flight to Nantucket. He had also thrown glasses at her and threatened to kill himself, police were told. New Canaan police applied for and received an arrest warrant charging the son with second-degree threatening. Nantucket police took him into custody, and the man later turned himself in on Aug.

New Canaan Dog Quarantined after Bite Sends Victim to Doc

A New Canaan dog is in quarantine at the police department’s animal control shelter after biting a person in the area of Kiwanis Park, officials say. Police at about 6 p.m. on Feb. 9 learned of the bite from urgent care physicians treating the victim. It isn’t clear just where or how severely the person was injured. The dog’s rabies was vaccination up-to-date, according to Officer Maryann Kleinschmitt, head of the police department’s animal control unit.
