Police on Sunday night arrested a 39-year-old New Canaan man and charged him with evading responsibility after he left the scene of a single-car crash near his home.
At about 8:30 p.m. on March 5, officers were dispatched to Valley and Colonial Roads on a report of a car crash with a vehicle that had come to rest in an embankment, police said.
Officials later discovered that the car had struck a utility pole while traveling on Valley Road, according to a police report.
During a subsequent investigation, officers determined that the operator, a Colonial Road resident, had failed to report the crash, the report said.
He also was cited for failure to drive right.
Police released the man on $500 bona and scheduled him to appear March 15 in state Superior Court in Norwalk.
