Town officials on Monday received an application to build a new, more conforming two-family home on Locust Avenue where an 1880-built dwelling now stands.

The house planned for 95 Locust Ave. will include about 3,790 square feet between two units, according to a building permit application.

The contractor on the job is homeowner Chris Taroli and the architect is GreenTek Consulting Inc. of Westport, the application said.

It will cost about $500,000 to build, it said.

The two units will share an open, covered front porch, according to the application. One unit will include 2,302 square feet, with three bedrooms and full bathrooms, office, unfinished walk-up attic, basement and two-car garage. The second unit will feature two bedrooms and bathrooms, one half-bath and a partial basement, at 1,488 square feet total.

Officials on Wednesday issued a permit for Studio Elan in New Canaan, formerly of Burtis Avenue, to add two sinks to its new location down the “alley” by Chef Luis, once the home of The Candy Scoop.

The Building Department recently also issued a pair of residential demolition permits, for ranch-style homes at 478 West Road and 76 Jonathan Road, both on April 29.
