What’s your single favorite place in New Canaan? My favorite place in New Canaan is Waveny Park. Going for a run or walking my dog throughout its trails is always a refreshing experience. I also enjoy visiting their weekly summer concerts during the summertime with my family.

Describe your interest in journalism and writing: I have always loved writing, and feel it is critically important to analyze and disseminate relevant news and events. People must always be informed, and I am excited for the opportunity to learn about current events and transcribe it for others to read. There is a joy to putting on paper what is going through my head.

Tell us something about yourself that even people who think they know you may not know: I have been playing guitar for almost all of my life, and I specialize in playing jazz guitar. Any activity that allows me to connect and interact with others creatively, whether it be music or writing, I have always found incredibly fun.

What’s your single favorite place in New Canaan? It might sound odd to say that my favorite place is the middle school, but I have some great memories at Saxe.  When I was in elementary school, my sister taught English to sixth and eighth graders.  Once a year, I would leave school early and spend a day in my sister’s classroom. Her students met the girl they’d heard stories about all year, and I met the students I’d been hearing about all year. I felt like a celebrity for the day.

Describe your interest in journalism and writing: I’ve loved reading and creative writing since I was little.  In high school, I became more interested in the online media side of journalism by keeping a blog, taking photos, and editing videos.  I’m not sure exactly what career path I’m head down, but I know writing will be a part of it.

Tell us something about yourself that even people who think they know you may not know: I know the American Sign Language finger-spelling alphabet, so I can use letters to spell out words in sign language.

What’s your single favorite place in New Canaan? My favorite place in New Canaan is Waveny Park. It is beautiful and I once ran a cross country race there.

Describe your interest in journalism and writing: I have always enjoyed writing, but never pursued it outside of class. When pursuing extracurricular activities in college I thought, hey I’m a decent writer I should try writing for the newspaper. I ended up really enjoying being a journalist and am now the Assistant Sports Editor for next school year.

Tell us something about yourself that even people who think they know you may not know: Something about myself that people don’t know is that I love the show South Park. It is so clever, poignant and hilarious.

What’s your single favorite place in New Canaan? My single favorite place in New Canaan would have to be my backyard. I live out in the Silvermine area of New Canaan and my big backyard, complete with a large pond and bridge, patio, and swing set that never fails to put a smile on my face. The best part of my day is watching the sun set over the trees, reflecting onto the water, and hearing the crickets start to chirp as my day comes to an end. My backyard is somewhere that I know I can be with my friends and family and always have a great time roasting marshmallows or eating a good burger. I have some great memories there and I plan on making more this summer.

Describe your interest in journalism and writing: For as long as I can remember, writing has always been something that I was interested in and my love for journalism began in the seventh grade. My class was assigned a new project where we had to write a series of current event articles, with a narrowed focus, on a country of our choice. I was beyond fascinated by the journalistic form of writing and telling a story based on the facts. I had dreamt of becoming a reporter, but by my freshman year I was introduced to photography and graphic design, something that I fell in love with as well, and I knew that in my sophomore year of high school I had to take all of these skills to the NCHS Courant.

Tell us something about yourself that even people who think they know you may not know: Something that not too many people know about me is that I have an obsession with tea. Just about any tea that you could think of I love, except Earl Grey, I’m not a big fan. But you can almost always find me holding a hot or idea tea, whether it’s from Starbucks or I brewed it at home, my love for tea is more extensive than most people realize.
