Letter: Grace Farms ‘Enriches Our Community’

Dear Editor,

I would like to express my appreciation and support of a New Canaan community asset, Grace Farms. Grace Farms run by the Grace Farms Foundation has multiple functions: including community and religious.

This year I had the opportunity to become better acquainted with Grace Farms, when as a board member of a local community organization I was able to hold a meeting for our members in its West Barn Hall. The staff at Grace Farms is highly professional and at all times exhibit the utmost concern for their operations and any events they host. Our group was very made to feel welcome and well taken care of.

In addition, I am very impressed by the commitment of the Grace Farms Foundation to the preservation of the environment. Currently efforts are underway to restore 80 acres of land to its natural state to offer habitat for local species. In addition, they have planted over 200 trees to provide increased privacy for their neighbors. Of course the side benefit of is that the additional trees will absorb carbon pollution, which is also very encouraging.

Grace Farms is a beautiful spot for young people to visit and offers a wonderful place especially for our teenagers, who lead very stressful lives, to find a place of quiet study and solace. Our high school daughter has her own pass to visit Grace Farms and uses it especially when she is studying for exams.

I don’t think we could have found a better caretaker for what was formerly known as Windsome Farms. We should be grateful for all Grace Farms has to offer New Canaan. Its existence enriches our community.

Sincerely,

Christina Fagerstal

New Canaan Resident

  1. Nice letter but I think you need to refer back to all the previous information so nicely compiled at Newcanaanite’s Grace Farms Hub. Have you read all of that? After that you might want to peruse their financials http://990s.foundationcenter.org/990pf_pdf_archive/271/271401401/271401401_201412_990PF.pdf (the latest publicly available) reflecting 100 million in assets….and then you can contemplate why other town residents feel duped that we pay our taxes.
