Police say a Wilton man was seriously injured in a single-car accident in northeastern New Canaan Wednesday night.

The motorist struck a tree around 6:56 p.m., according to police. Arriving, officers encountered a crashed vehicle on fire, according to a police report.
A good Samaritan had taken the driver out of the car, police said.
He was transported to Norwalk Hospital’s emergency room.
The NCPD’s Crash Reconstruction Team is investigating the crash, with assistance from Wilton Police.
