The Kiwanis Club of New Canaan will be able to allocate up to $2,000 per applicant and will take applications through the end of this month (Feb. 29—it’s a Leap Year).

“Those interested should submit a letter with the agency name, contact information, mission statement, detailed description of program, proposed use for funds and amount requested,” Kiwanis said in a press release. “Explanations of how your mission fits within the Kiwanis mission.”

Last year, with funds raised mainly through its summertime Zerbini Famiy Circus—presented in partnership with the New Canaan YMCA—Kiwanians gave a total of $16,000 to 16 local nonprofit organizations.

Beneficiaries included the Thorpe Family Residence, which helps homeless women and children at a homeless shelter in the Bronx—a cause championed by Ann Wronski, a New Canaanite and member of the Kiwanis Club (who also organizes the club’s Meals-on-Wheels support).

Other organizations that received allocations from the club last year were the Silvermine Arts Center, ABC House of New Canaan, Future Five, Summer Theatre of New Canaan, New Canaan Land Trust, New Canaan Nature Center, Slow Down in Our Town, Child Guidance Center, New Canaan Historical Society, Fresh Air Fund, New Canaan Cares, the YMCA, New Canaan Youth Group, Person to Person and New Canaan Police Department.

Requests should be submitted no later than Feb. 29, to:

Kiwanis Club of New Canaan PO Box 571, New Canaan, CT 06840
