The order from Judge Irene Jacobs came July 3 in the case of a local woman who sustained injuries after slipping in an aisle at Acme (formerly Food Emporium) on Elm Street while going out for ice cream last April.

Aspiring architects got a real taste of the field with a hands-on experience at New Canaan Library‘s first “architecture camp.” Held this week and led by Clemson University Professor of Architecture Joseph Schott, the camp saw 16 boys and girls, ages 9 to14, design a park that could exist in downtown New Canaan.  The students envisioned and designed original structures and built scale models from found and recycled objects. In the process, participants learned basic woodworking, design and engineering principles. Schott also taught the group about the construction, history and function of ancient monuments, from Stonehenge to the Necropolis at Giza. He was assisted by local resident, architecture and landscape preservationist Marty Skrelunas.
