Tragic news reported by The Advocate: A 2-month-old baby girl from New Canaan died in Stamford on Tuesday evening, hours after she developed a problem breathing at daycare. The newspaper’s crime and courts reporter writes that police are calling the cause of death blunt-force head trauma, and the incident has been classified as a homicide. Her family lives on Locust Avenue, the newspaper reported. The Stamford Police detective overseeing the case was not immediately available for comment. Full article here.

Changing gears, here’s a friendly reminder that this week marks the first time ever that street-level merchants in downtown New Canaan will kickstart the annual Village Fair & Sidewalk Sale on Friday. The full event, organized by the New Canaan Chamber of Commerce, will be held Saturday. The Parking Commission at its most recent meeting praised an idea that came from one ticketed motorist who showed up to appeal that ticket.

It was surmised that she received a ticket because her car had been chalked—probably on Elm Street—and then she parked on Main Street for a very short time and the same chalk led to her getting a ticket, as the parking enforcement officer logically concluded she’d been there the whole time. Her idea: Use different-colored chalk for different streets.

Finally, the guys at the New Canaan Fire Department have quietly placed strips of blue tape on their Tanker 8 vehicle, as a show of support for their fellow emergency responders in blue. Asked about the tape, Fire Chief Jack Hennessey confirmed that the firefighters wanted to show support for the Dallas Police Department as well as the town’s own New Canaan Police Department:
