New Canaan struck first when Charlotte Walter went unassisted in a superb goal. Halfway into the first half Walter pushed a pass out of traffic in front of the Wilton net to Lily Magliacano who struck it home for a 2-0 New Canaan lead. Wilton got one back before the end of the half to make the halftime score 2-1 New Canaan in the lead.

Wilton would score first in the second half to tie it up at the 7-minute mark. At 10 minutes into the second half Charlotte Walter found Sloane Griffiths who made sure with a strong shot that gave the Wilton goalie no chance. A hand ball in the box resulted in a penalty shot by the Wilton attacker that went off the Goalie Sofie Brauweiler’s finger tips and hit the cross bar to bounce in to tie the game.

Wilton had a throw-in just inside mid field when Claire Ognibene stole the ball from the intended Wilton player, split two defenders as she dribbled toward the goal and hammered one home to put New Canaan on top again at 4-3. Lily Auerbach, Hadley Walker, Rani Joshi and Claire Pellegrino kept up the offensive pressure which gave Wilton no chance come back. Throughout the day the rotating New Canaan defense of Lauren Lee, Claire Ognibene, Amanda Vigano and Logan Severance kept the ball away from the goal. Goalies Claire Pellegrino and Sofie Brauweiler combined to hold off any surge by Wilton.
