Two Arrested for Residential Burglaries in New Canaan

Police on Friday arrested a Connecticut man and woman by warrant in connection with five residential burglaries reported last month in New Canaan. Daniel Perez, 34, of Derby, and Alessandra Sillo, 33, of Shelton, each were charged with five counts of third-degree burglary and conspiracy to commit third-degree burglary, as well as third-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit third-degree larceny and two counts of sixth-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit sixth-degree larceny. The burglaries had occurred in the northeast section of New Canaan and a suspect was identified when surveillance video from one of them captured an image of a dark-colored Ford Mustang leaving a targeted residence, according to a police report. 

Following a New Canaan Police investigation that included assistance from the Wilton Police Department, authorities obtained a search warrant for Perez and Sillo’s home in Shelton, the report said. There, on Sept. 6, New Canaan investigators and Shelton Police searched the home at 185 Coram Ave., and found items inside that had been reported stolen from New Canaan homes last month, it said.

24-Year-Old Man Arrested After Police Find Drugs in His Lost Wallet

Police last week arrested a 24-year-old man after finding a drugs in his lost wallet. At about 6:50 p.m. on Aug. 28, an officer was dispatched to the lobby of police headquarters on a report of a lost wallet that had been found at the train station downtown, officials said. The officer looked through the wallet in order to identify its owner, and found it to be the Brooklyn, N.Y. man, according to a police report. In the search of the wallet, police found a powdery substance in a small plastic bag in its billfold area that later tested positive for methamphetamines, the report said.

Forest Street Pair Arrested for Assault, Disorderly Conduct

Police after midnight Tuesday arrested two residents of a Forest Street apartment following a domestic dispute between them. At about 11:50 p.m. on Sept. 2, officers responded to a report of the dispute that involved a 36-year-old man and 25-year-old woman, according to police. Following an investigation, each was charged with third-degree assault and disorderly conduct. 

It isn’t clear what the dispute involved, how it turned physical, whether, what the relationship is between the pair or what is the extent of their injuries. Police declined to provide details, saying the incident was a domestic matter.

Police: New Canaan Man, 67, Arrested After Yelling at Officers in Attempt To Disrupt Investigation into ATV Incident

Police on Thursday night arrested a 67-year-old New Canaan man who tried to prevent officers from investigating a report of youths riding ATVs on his street, officials said. At about 7:52 p.m. on Aug. 29, officers were dispatched to Deep Valley Road on a report of youths riding ATVs and off-road motorcycles on both the public roadway and a private lane near the man’s home, according to a police report. Police were interviewing a youth possibly involved in the incident when the man disrupted them, trying to prevent the officers from conducting their investigation, the report said. He continued to interrupt the officers and yelled at them in an attempt to stop them from speaking to the youth without disruption, it said.

Disorderly Charge for Avalon Drive Woman, 41

Police on Wednesday morning arrested a 41-year-old New Canaan woman and charged her with disorderly conduct. At about 6:42 a.m. on Aug. 21, officers were dispatched to a Main Street house on a report of a domestic dispute between two people there, according to police. Following an investigation, police brought the misdemeanor charge against the woman, who lives on Avalon Drive, officials said. Under state law, a person is guilty of disorderly conduct when, “with intent to cause inconvenience, annoyance or alarm, engages in fighting or in violent, tumultuous or threatening behavior; or by offensive or disorderly conduct, annoys or interferes with another person,” among other reasons.
