Congratulations to family-owned pet supply retailer Pet Pantry Warehouse on its 75th year in business. Founded in Greenwich, Pet Pantry opened its New Canaan store on Grove Street seven years ago. In marking the milestone, the New Canaan Dog Days organizer is hosting in-store events throughout 2020—such as face painting, balloon art, ice cream socials, educational lectures, contests, portrait sessions and music—and is calling on locals to recommend nonprofit beneficiaries for its newly launched $75,000 fundraising effort. An art gallery on Burtis Avenue hasn’t paid its $4,000 monthly rent in about one year and now owes about $58,000 to its landlord, according to a complaint filed last week in state Superior Court. The owner of 9 Burtis Ave.—a limited liability company that’s owned by three Manhattan residents, according to Connecticut Secretary of the State records—filed papers Nov.

More than $500 in taxes is owed to the town on a 2009 Porsche Cayenne that’s listed in municipal records as property of Jennifer and Fotis Dulos. The $537.87 total represents two years in back taxes owed on the vehicle, including $83.94 in interest, according to the bill. The vehicle has been noted both in Jennifer Dulos’s divorce filings and police arrest warrant affidavits used to charge Fotis Dulos in connection with her disappearance.

A New Canaan man’s lawsuit against a Heritage Hill Road condominium association is scheduled to proceed to trial in January, according to Connecticut Judicial Branch records. ***

The district failed to obtain a building permit for about $20,000 in work done at the New Canaan High School auditorium, according to an after-the-fact permit issued Tuesday. The work involved raising a floor and level for a sound booth in an approximately 200 square foot space, according to the permit. New Canaan Public Schools Manager of Facilities Operations Dan Clarke applied for the permit. ***

The “Covia building,” formerly known as the “Unimen building,” at Elm and Grove Streets, sold for $6,925,000, according to a property transfer recorded Oct. 9 with the Town Clerk. The buyer is TBG/Elm Street LLC, a company whose principal is Michael Besen, according to Connecticut Secretary of the State records. The Goshen resident is founder and CEO of Manhattan-based Besen Partners. Besen’s companies “have brokered the purchase and sale of over $7 billion of real estate assets, the management of over 5 million square feet of real property and the purchase and ownership of over $200 million of assets for his own account and that of his co-investment partners,” according to a bio on the firm’s site.

New Canaan Police at 12:09 a.m. Tuesday cited a 29-year-old New Canaan man with possession of less than .5 ounces of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and speeding after stopping him on Old Stamford Road for traveling 46 mph in a 30 mph zone. ***

The New Canaan Building Department on Monday issued a demolition permit for a 1967 custom-built home at 1077 Oenoke Ridge. The 3.59-acre property had been purchased three years ago for $2.6 million by a limited liability company controlled by a Stafford Springs family. ***
