The town on Jan. 10 received a notice of intent to sue on behalf of a woman said to have sustained multiple injuries when tree branches fell on her one evening last month. Rachel Coder Matthews sustained head laceration, fractured spine, headaches, concussion and brain hemorrhage as a result of the incident along Lapham Road at Waveny, according to attorney Steven Landis of Stamford-based The Pickel Law Firm LLC. It happened at about 7 p.m. on Dec. 17, he said in a Notice of Claim filed with the Town Clerk’s office.

New Canaan Library next week will request a $10 million town contribution toward an estimated $30 million rebuilding project, First Selectman Kevin Moynihan said Thursday. The planned building draws on New Canaan’s Midcentury Modern architecture with “a lot of glass on top and you’re going to have views from the second floor that will be pretty compelling,” Moynihan said during a press briefing in his office at Town Hall. “I think it’s going to be transformational for downtown. It’s going to be a beautiful architectural structure and it’s a necessary thing. That old building is beyond its useful life.

The Savings Bank of Danbury this week filed a notice of pending legal action that names Fotis Dulos as a defendant in a $2,795,000 foreclosure claim on a 2018-built Sturbridge Hill Road home that’s owned by his construction company. Filed in state Superior Court, the lis pendens—which lists other parties holding liens on the property, including the mother of Jennifer Dulos—was received Tuesday in the Town Clerk’s office. ***

New Canaan youth volunteers from the National Charity League’s class of 2021 gave their time last weekend to help set up for the Domestic Violence Crisis Center’s annual Holiday Bazaar. DVCC distributes gifts to nearly 400 adults and children. The youth volunteers took time out from sorting gifts and setting up to learn about how to identify teen dating violence from DVCC Peaceworks Manager Nikkia Ellis.

The two hopeful purchasers of Vine Cottage have proposed returning the antique Main Street building to a residential use—one as-is and the other as part of a “mini-development” that would bump out the back of the structure, First Selectman Kevin Moynihan said during a press briefing Thursday in his Town Hall office. The second proposal included an assumption that the town would retain its parking out back of the former Red Cross building next door—an offer the town has pushed back on because it doesn’t need that parking and because the concession would “part of the equation in valuation” of a property transfer, Moynihan said. It likely will be “many months” before anything is done, he said.

The New Canaan Career Firefighters Local 3224 purchased Christmas trees to donate to the New Canaan Human Services Department for families in need of a tree for the holiday season. ***

Green & Tonic on Burtis Avenue aced its Dec. 12 inspection from the New Canaan Health Department, scoring a total of 94 points out of a possible 100, with zero “risk factor” violations.

Tickets for the annual Turkey Bowl are to go on sale from 3 to 5 p.m. Friday in the auxiliary gym at New Canaan High School. They cost $10 apiece (cash) and are for New Canaan residents only, school official say. There’s a two-ticket limit and purchasers must bring photo ID. The rival football game against (ew) Darien High School is to be played at 10 a.m. on Thanksgiving morning, and no tickets will be available at the gate. NCHS recently was ranked the #2 high school in the state by niche.com, Darien #3.
