Police on Friday arrested a 25-year-old Norwalk man by warrant on a felony charge in connection with the burglary of a Burtis Avenue business earlier this year.

Officers were dispatched to Green & Tonic at about 11:03 p.m. on Feb. 12 (a Tuesday) after a commercial burglary alarm had been activated, according to a police report.

There, police saw that a window had been smashed in with a rock, the report said. Investigators obtained physical and video surveillance evidence, it said.

The following month, on March 27, Norwalk Police advised that the city man had confessed to smash-and-grab commercial burglaries in Norwalk and surrounding towns, the report said. During a subsequent interview with New Canaan Police, he confessed to the burglary at 5 Burtis Ave., it said.

Based on his confession, police obtained an arrest warrant for third-degree burglary. The man turned himself in at about 6:30 p.m. on Aug. 2.

He was released on $50,000 bond and scheduled to appear Aug. 12 in state Superior Court in Norwalk.
