Town officials on Monday received an application to build a new, 9,100-square-foot home on Valley Road where an 1846-built antique less than one-third that size now stands.
The 2-acre property at 867 Valley Road was purchased in June for $801,500, tax records show. Its new owner is a limited liability company whose principal is a Smith Ridge Road woman, according to records on file with the Connecticut Secretary of the State.
The planned home, to be built by the New Canaan-based owner (the architect is New York City-based Lifeform), will have 12 total rooms, including six bedrooms, playroom in the attic, living room, dining room, study, kitchen and family room, according to the application.
The first and second floors will have 7,600 square feet, with another 1,500 in the finished attic, it said.
The home will cost about $900,000 to build, the application said.

The New Canaan Building Department on Aug. 2 issued a permit for a new 4,500-square-foot home to go up at 52 Gower Road.
The .28-acre lot sold in July for $850,000, tax records show. A 1,689-square-foot ranch-style home had stood there and was razed in February.
The new home will come to about 4,500 square feet and will include four bedrooms and bathrooms as well as an attached two-car garage, the permit said.
It will cost about $675,000 to build.
