The century-old ranch at 119 Parade Hill Road has been razed and the town has issued a permit to build a new home with more than five times the living space of the old.
The original single-story, 1914 home included just one bedroom and bathroom in 625 square feet of living space (all in one room) among about 1,450 total gross square feet.
The new home will include 3,428 square feet, with four bedrooms, three baths, one half-bath, a 2-car attached garage and 14-by-18-foot open patio, according to a building permit.
The .17-acre property and original house was purchased seven years ago for $460,000, tax records show.
Both the demolition and building permits were issued May 29.

Also on May 29, a permit was issued to build an approximately 5,400-square-foot home at 22 Parish Lane, until now the site of a 1956 ranch with 1,778 square feet of living space, tax records show.
The new home, to be built by Kaeser Development—which purchased the 1.52-acre property for $825,000 on April 30—will cost about $800,00 to construct, according to the building permit application.
It will include 1,990 square feet on the first floor (kitchen, mudroom, family room, study, living and dining rooms, 3-car garage), three fireplaces, 2,360 on the second floor (master and four other bedrooms, four baths) and a 990-square-foot finished attic with a full bath and playroom.
