The figures eclipse a prior record set in May by 7 percent. The news site’s third-highest-ever traffic month came in June, and YTD traffic is up 13.5 percent.
In July, according to Google Analytics, 96.2 percent of all readers were in the United States when reading NewCanaanite.com—54 percent Connecticut (mostly in New Canaan, followed by Norwalk, Westport, Stamford and Wilton) and 18.5 percent New York (more than three-quarters of those in New York City itself, most likely commuters).
The most-read articles of the month included the sale of Tequila Mockingbird by chef-owner Paul Mauk, the results of the Republican caucus in New Canaan, a dog-on-human bite and the breaking news of New Canaan resident Michael Handler’s candidacy for governor.
