Police broke up an underage drinking and pot party at a Bridle Path Lane home Saturday night and arrested the 18-year-old who lives there on drug, alcohol and forgery charges.

At about 10:15 p.m. on April 19, police responded to a report of the underage party and, arriving, saw several young people out behind the house, according to a police report.

They found beer cans and found marijuana and drug paraphernalia, including: two metal grinders, large bong, four packs rolling papers, two smaller smoking pipes, electronic scale, 60 beer cans, bottle of rum and bottle of vodka, police said.

Officers talked to seven 18-year-olds and the one who said he lived there and that his parents weren’t home said the alcohol and pot were his, according to Sgt. Carol Ogrinc.

He was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of alcohol by a minor, failure to halt possession of alcohol by a minor and second-degree forgery (for a fake ID).

New Canaan-based nonprofit New Canaan CARES on April 30 is running a program called “Navigating the Teen Party Scene: Community Roundtable.”
