Police on Sunday afternoon arrested a 38-year-old New Canaan man and charged him with evading responsibility.
At about 2:44 p.m. on Feb. 2, officers were dispatched to the area of Country Club and Indian Rock Roads on a report of someone evading a motor vehicle crash, police said.
A driver struck a utility pole and continued off without stopping, according to a police report.
Witness information led to an Indian Rock Road man, the report said.
Police took the man into custody on the misdemeanor charge, and also cited him for unsafe backing.
He was released on $250 bond and scheduled to appear Feb. 12 in state Superior Court in Norwalk.
