International photographer Daryl Hawk returns to New Canaan Library to offer a unique view of the natural beauty of Ecuador. His photo documentary and talk will explore his most recent expedition to the northern, central, and southern highlands of Ecuador. Hawk will speak on Wednesday, November 7 at 6:30 p.m. in the Library’s Adrian Lamb Room. Please register online at newcanaanlibrary.org.
In Ecuador to shoot a documentary, Hawk embarked solo on a 1600 mile journey following the “Avenue of Volcanoes” across the Andean mountain range. On some of the highest roads in the Americas, Hawk explored and photographed rarely seen geological formations, cloud forests, high altitude lakes, indigenous cultures, marketplaces, pre-Hispanic ruins, and some of the highest volcanoes in the world. Hawk will discuss his style, philosophy, and photography techniques, including equipment, lighting and environmental portraits. In addition to travel tips on Ecuador, Hawk will speak about his nonstop, daily adventures, discoveries, and the valuable lessons he learned on this incredibly spiritual journey.

For the past thirty years, Daryl Hawk has explored some of the most remote and isolated places in the world telling stories with his camera. His photographs appear in magazines and publications worldwide. He is a member of the Explorers Club, a fellow of the Royal Geographical Society, and member of the Professional Photographers Association. He is the former host and producer of the television show “The Unconventional Traveler” which featured some of the world’s leading explorers, travel photographers and filmmakers sharing their work from various expeditions and documentaries.
