A new nail salon is planned for a commercial space on Forest Street that’s been vacant since Milestones closed at the end of 2016.
An inspection and Health Department license are required in order for “Belle Visage” to open at 32 Forest St., according to documents on file at Town Hall.
The interior fit-out at the salon will cost about $60,000, according to a building permit application filed by Chi Ae Na, the business’s owner. The contractor on the job is Wayne Dimm Enterprises of Ridgefield, the architect is New Canaan-based RADMANarchitects LLC, according to the application, filed June 22.
Normally under the Building Code, a 1,535-square-foot space would mean that separate facilities are required. Yet officials applied successfully to the state for an exception in order to have a single ADA-compliant toilet room.
The 1938-built commercial building had been known to locals for decades as the Griffin Ford dealership. For 12 of the past 14 years, it had been specialty gift shop Milestones.
It isn’t clear when Belle Visage will open—Na could not immediately be reached for comment. The town-issued permit for alterations expires Dec. 19, building records show.
A sign above the commercial space describes Belle Visage as a “Natural Nail Lounge.”
cannot believe another nail salon- pathetic that the owners of this beautiful property couldn’t find a more interesting renter-how about another real estate office?
All these nail salons will ultimately devalue the image of our town.
Way too many of them. It’s a downgrade for New Canaan retail
So sad to think another beautiful, historic exterior may be desecrated – and for another nail salon?
