A 2-year-old Wheaten terrier on Saturday night bit its owner in three places after the man tripped over the dog by accident, police said.
It happened at about 9:16 p.m. on Dec. 12 at the family’s Logan Road home, according to a police report.
The dog bit the man in his chest, right leg and left arm, sending him to Norwalk Hospital, the report said.
Asked about the incident, Animal Control Officer Allyson Halm confirmed that the dog will serve a state-mandated 14-day home quarantine (since the bite occurred at home) through Dec. 26.
“It just shows you that with dogs, it’s ‘fight or flight’ and if there is pain, they will react one way or the other, no matter who you are,” Halm said. “The dog probably got hurt. It’s common when two dogs are fighting and someone reaches in that they get bitten, and they wonder why.”
