In the final week of May, three motorists passed a stopped school bus on Jelliff Mill Road near the intersection at Ponus Ridge, police said.
The violations occurred around 3:12 p.m. on May 23, 4:08 p.m. on May 28 and 7:32 a.m. on May 29, according to Sgt. Carol Ogrinc of the New Canaan Police Department.
The violators, respectively, were a 55-year-old Norwalk woman, 82-year-old Greenwich man and 18-year-old New Canaan woman, according to a police report.
In each case, the violating motorists passed the stopped school bus from the opposite direction (from the Ponus Ridge side), police said.
The infraction offense carries a $460 fine.
The bus driver who brought the information to police about the offenses is a 43-year-old Norwalk man. Buses are equipped with cameras that capture license plate information of vehicles that pass them when they’re stopped.
Separately, on June 4, a 21-year-old New Canaan man passed a stopped school bus on Main Street near Burtis Avenue downtown, police said.
