Police on Thursday night arrested a 71-year-old New Canaan woman and charged her with driving under the influence.
At about 8:55 p.m. on Aug. 31, an officer on patrol saw a car cross into the oncoming traffic lane while traveling northbound on Old Stamford Road, according to a police report.
During a subsequent stop, the officer smelled alcohol on the driver’s breath, the report said. She failed field sobriety tests and a blood-alcohol test revealed her to be at a level of .11, against a legal limit of .08.
Police additionally cited the woman for failure to maintain the property lane of travel.
She was released on $250 bond and scheduled to appear Sept. 12 in state Superior Court in Norwalk.
