The pre-American Revolution era White Oak Shade Road home that made headlines recently when its new owners started to demolish part of it without a permit—then claimed it was a misunderstanding, only to raze the whole structure—is back on social media.

The owners posted on Facebook Marketplace that they’re selling the “antique original beams” from the antique house ($150 apiece). On July 13 they applied to the New Canaan Building Department for a permit on an estimated $280,000 job that will include “alteration of first and second floor of existing foundation walls” and “adding four bedrooms and 4.5 baths.”

Police on Tuesday picked up what they described as a sad-looking, lethargic crow sitting on Elm Street. Officer Allyson Halm of the New Canaan Police Department’s Animal Control section said a veterinarian who examined the bird found nothing physically wrong with it, though officials with Wildlife In Crisis said the crow most likely was suffering from West Nile Virus.

The 18-month Jelliff Mill Bridge replacement project is finished, Joe Zagarenski, senior engineer of the New Canaan Department of Public Works, told the Board of Selectmen on Tuesday.

The selectmen during their regular meeting voted 3-0 to appoint Tom Schulte to the Board of Finance as a regular member, replacing Colleen Baldwin, for a term to expire Nov. 15, 2021. First Selectman Kevin Moynihan said the town “appreciates Colleen’s years of service” on the municipal funding body. Selectman Nick Williams thanked Baldwin “for her invaluable service.” (They also appointed Maria Weingarten, deputy treasurer for Moynihan’s election campaign last year, as an alternate on the non-elected finance board.)

The senior high youth group from First Presbyterian Church spent a week in July serving a town called Rio Cuarto in Costa Rica. They built a children’s library with books they brought from the United States, sponsored a sports camp and handed out New Canaan sports jerseys of all kinds, threw a VBS day program for children at Cristi’s Orphanage, put in a concrete driveway at a church, and delivered food to 25 families in dire need.

A boxer-mixed breed dog belonging to a tenant in an East Avenue home on Tuesday bit another tenant there on the right hand, according to Animal Control. The dog is now undergoing a two-week quarantine on its property. The animal’s vaccinations are up-to-date, according to Halm.

Reporting to James Singleton, Cürex Group’s Chairman and CEO, Daniels will be driving new business opportunities for Cürex’s streaming FX data set, live data analytics and associated trading tools.

Police last week arrested a 54-year-old Bethel man by warrant and charged him with second-degree failure to appear. The man turned himself in on July 20 on a paperless re-arrest warrant issued in connection with a misdemeanor charge last April of operating a motor vehicle while under suspension. Police released the man on $2,500 bond and scheduled him to appear July 31 in state Superior Court in Norwalk.
