Three Pot Busts in New Canaan

Police on Friday night cited two Stamford men for minor drug violations after finding pot and smoking gear in their car during a traffic stop.

At about 6:51 p.m. on Feb. 9, an officer on patrol saw a car run a stop sign at Jelliff Mill Road and Ponus Ridge, according to a police report.

During a subsequent stop, the officer smelled marijuana in the car, it said.

The occupants, both 25, were charged with possession of marijuana.

The driver additionally was cited for failure to obey a stop sign, while the passenger was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia.

A 32-year-old Stamford man was cited for possession of marijuana after midnight on Feb. 3.

At about 12:13 a.m., an officer on patrol stopped a car traveling northbound on Ponus Ridge because it had no front license plate and a defective rear marker light, according to a police report. The officer smelled marijuana while speaking to the driver during a stop, brought the infraction charge and issued a verbal warning for the motor vehicle violations.

Police before dawn on Feb. 3 cited a 28-year-old Norwalk man for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

At about 2:01 a.m., an officer stopped a car traveling southbound on Oenoke Ridge Road because it had a defective rear marker light, according to a police report.

The officer smelled pot in the car during an ensuing stop, found marijuana and a metal grinder, ticketed the driver for the infraction offenses and issued a verbal warning for the marker light.
