Police arrested a 52-year-old Birchwood Avenue man by warrant Saturday and charged him with risk of injury to a minor, third-degree assault and disorderly conduct.

He is accused of hitting his girlfriend’s teenage son in the face, causing minor injuries, according to police. The incident, reported by the girlfriend, took place on the night of Jan. 19, according to New Canaan police Sgt. Carol Ogrinc. Police were unable to serve the warrant until this past weekend because it was difficult to contact the man, Ogrinc said.

The arrested man was released on $5,000 bond and scheduled to appear Feb. 10 in state Superior Court in Stamford.
