Police are investigating a report of some $50,000 in jewelry, guns, electronics and other items from a Ferris Hill Road home.
A 53-year-old man told police that some time on Dec. 8 or 9, a Winchester 300 rifle, ($500), rifle scope ($1,800), miscellaneous crystal ware ($5,000), Sony speakers ($400), miscellaneous silver flatware ($5,000), antique clock ($500), two MacBook Pro computers ($2,000 apiece) went missing from his home, according to a police report.
The man waited until the morning after Christmas to report the theft because he had other things going on during the holidays, police said.
Officials found no signs of forced entry at the home, the report said. The door likely was unlocked and no alarm had been switched on, police said.

Police are investigating a 54-year-old New Norwalk Road woman’s complaint that someone opened up an account at Kohl’s department store under her name and charged $1,484.37 to it.
At 5:21 p.m. on Dec. 23, the woman told police she received a statement in the mail for a store credit card that she’d never opened though charges had been made in her name, police said.
Police found two records of transactions, including one from Rego Park, N.Y. Kohl’s own security department is looking into the fraud.
