$29,310 Reported Stolen from New Canaan Woman’s Bank Account

Police are investigating the theft of $29,310 from a local woman’s bank account.

Between Oct. 20 and Nov. 17, an 85-year-old Turtle Back Road woman’s account with a New Canaan bank shows 14 unauthorized purchases and at least four ATM withdrawals, according to a police report.

The victim’s adult son notified police about the larcenies at 10:43 a.m. on Dec. 26, the report said.

Police say people had been working in the woman’s home at the time of the thefts, and they’re investigating.

Police arrested a 38-year-old Norwalk man by warrant at 5:23 p.m. on Dec. 22 and charged him with failure to appear.

He missed a court appearance Nov. 20 in connection with a motor vehicle arrest in August, on charges of operating with a license, speeding and driving with no insurance.

He was released on $250 bond and scheduled to appear Jan. 5 in state Superior Court in Norwalk.
