A 40-year-old Weed Street woman at 9 a.m. on May 5 told New Canaan police that the approximately 2-karat diamond from her engagement ring—worth $40,000—had been stolen the prior day.
According to New Canaan Police Sgt. Carol Ogrinc, the woman said she removes her ring every night and places it in a bathroom. It went missing some time between 8 and 9 a.m. on May 4, Ogrinc said. A worker had come into the house during that time, and the woman noticed that it was missing shortly after left, according to a police report.
It’s under investigation.
