New Canaan Boys 2007 White Ties Wilton U10 Gold 1-1
—submitted by Anne Walker
New Canaan Boys 07 White started off their season on a strong note. It was a beautiful afternoon at Ambler Field in Wilton and, as a new team, the boys pulled together, show some well-coordinated play with great passing, defense and footwork. Although Wilton scored early on in the first half, New Canaan was undeterred. They stayed on the offensive most of the time and finally John Murphy came up with the goods, tying the score at 1-1 shortly before the end of the first half.
New Canaan dominated most of the second half but was not able to get anything past Wilton’s goalie. Meanwhile, Simon Tschakarov, who was in New Canaan’s goal both halves, had a lot of great saves and prevented Wilton from pulling ahead. It was a positive outcome for the team’s first game in season and we look forward to seeing the boys grow further as a team.
Oliver Sturn played great defense, preventing Wilton’s front line from getting too close to goal.

New Canaan Girls 2005 Girls Black Defeats OGRCC 3-0
—submitted by Mike Mottolese
Under crisp blue skies at Saxe middle school Sunday afternoon, the U12 Girls Black team kicked off their season against OGRCC.
New Canaan set the tone early with shots on goal in the first few minutes by Abby Richardson. If not for some nice saves by the OGRCC goalkeeper, New Canaan would have had a quick lead. The black team kept the ball in their opponent’s end of the field the entire half, with Reagan Bailey, Reagan Quinn and Jocelyn Riley working well together to advance the ball up the right side a number of times. Any time OGRCC pushed the ball over midfield, the strong kicks of Natalie Plosker and Amanda Benson pushed them right back. Midfielders KK Mottolese, Paxton Beladoni and forwards Ava Dunn and Kelly Marchiony kept the pressure on early. Rory McCarthy broke the ice with a goal coming off an assist from Riley to make it 1-0. Fresh legs came in as the team had an almost full set of subs. These girls had a quick impact as Delaney Hoey put a shot near the goal only to be rerouted by Peyton Franz for the score to make it 2-0. OGRCC was unable to mount any further offensive attack and the New Canaan led 2-0 at the half.
The second half saw the same offensive pressure from New Canaan, with Lauryn Lee and Dunn working well together to move the ball up the field. The Bailey to Quinn combo opened up Beladoni for a near score early in the second half. More good saves by the opposing Goalie kept the game at 2-0 despite a penalty kick by Natalie Plosker and point blank drives by McCarthy and Richardson. Late in the half, Charlotte Walter found Alexandra Gelvin near the net and Gelvin drove it home to seal it at 3-0. Goalkeeper Emily Fox kept the game a shutout, ably handling the duties in the net.
