Police after midnight Sunday arrested a 21-year-old New Canaan woman following a domestic incident.
At about 12:49 a.m. Monday, officers were dispatched to an Old Kings Highway home on a report of an altercation between two occupants there, according to police.
Following an investigation, the woman was charged with disorderly conduct and third-degree assault.
It isn’t clear what the argument involved, whether anyone was hurt or whether the victim is related to the woman. Police declined to release details, classifying the matter as a domestic incident.
Under state law, a person is guilty of disorderly conduct when, with intent to cause inconvenience, annoyance or alarm, engages in fighting or in violent, tumultuous or threatening behavior; or by offensive or disorderly conduct, annoys or interferes with another person, among other reasons.
A person is guilty of third-degree assault, according to state law, when “with intent to cause physical injury to another person, he causes such injury to such person or to a third person” or “recklessly causes serious physical injury to another person or “with criminal negligence, he causes physical injury to another person by means of a deadly weapon, a dangerous instrument or an electronic defense weapon.”
Police held the woman on $500 bond and scheduled her to appear Monday in state Superior Court in Norwalk.
