Work on the railroad crossing on Talmadge Hill Road next to the train station there will shut the street for traffic at that spot from Friday, Aug. 14 through Thursday, Aug. 20, the Connecticut Department of Transportation has announced.

The street is expected to be closed at that point starting at 10 am.. on Friday, and not expected to reopen until 4 p.m. the following Thursday, the department announced.

If your commute normally has you driving from Old Stamford Road or Hoyt Street to Talmadge Road to get to the station, your route will be blocked. That area of Talmadge Hill Road, just over the border from Darien in New Canaan, is expected to be closed at that point starting at 10 am. on Friday, and not expected to reopen until 4 p.m. the following Thursday, the department announced.

The suggested detour route is to go north on Old Stamford Road, then south on Latham Road, which intersects with Talmadge Hill Road a block to the east.

The work is part of ongoing upgrades on the New Canaan Branch line by Metro-North crews that also resulted in work at the Grove Street railroad crossing.

“The upgrading includes the replacement of the existing crossing surface and installation of underground duct banks,” the department announced.

Ongoing weekend closure of the New Canaan Branch will continue as of very late on Friday night through the weekend, with train service resuming on Monday, Aug. 17, according to the announcement.

  1. Can you find out if commuters be able to cross tracks by foot if they park on east side of tracks?

Is the NC branch line running trains that week?

    Thanks
