Festival of French Films at New Canaan Library Focuses on Fashion Icons

New Canaan presents an afternoon and evening of French films, inviting viewers to immerses themselves in the glamour – and hard work – of the fashion industry. Screenings will take place at 2 pm, 4 pm and 6:30 pm on Monday, July 15 in the Adrian Lamb Room. A documentary on former Vogue Paris editor-in-chief and fashion stylist Carine Roitfeld, following her career as she moves to New York to launch her own magazine. pm – L’Amour Fou (2009, 100 mins.) This documentary focuses on the life of fashion icon Yves Saint Laurent (1936-2008).

Join New Canaan Library in welcoming back artist and lecturer Cliff Tisdell, for a discussion on the fascinating life of Diego Velázquez. Anthony Bourdain’s “Wasted!”

In the final year of a life cut tragically short, Anthony Bourdain—celebrity chef, journalist, and globe-trotting host of CNN’s “Parts Unknown”—tackled one of the most shocking and significant problems of our time: food waste. Planet New Canaan will be screening his award-winning and powerful documentary, Wasted! The Story of Food Waste, at New Canaan Library on Monday, June 10 at 6:00 pm. Fully one-third of all food grown in the world is wasted before it reaches our plates. That’s a very big deal, since 80% of the world’s water, 40% of the world’s land, and 10% of the world’s energy goes toward cultivating the food we eat.
