Registrar: New Canaan Republicans’ Turnout for Primary ‘A Disappointment’

Calling today’s turnout by local Republicans “a disappointment,” New Canaan Registrar of Voters Kathleen Redman released the following unofficial results of Tuesday’s primaries. A total of 796 GOP members voted—that’s about 12.4 percent of registered Republicans in town. “While we always strive for 100 percent participation, we fell far short of that goal,” Redman said in an email. Update 7:30 p.m.

As of 7 p.m., 669 registered Republicans had cast votes in-person for the primary. An additional 68 voted via absentee ballot, officials say.
