Police cited a 20-year-old Stamford girl on a minor drug charge late Friday after stopping her at a DUI checkpoint on Old Stamford Road.
At about 9:24 p.m. on Dec. 18, police stopped the car near the intersection of the Merritt Parkway at Exit 36, and upon speaking with the motorist, police detected a smell of marijuana, according to a police report.
Ultimately she handed police a ball of tin foil with a small amount of pot inside.
She was cited for possession of less than .5 ounces of marijuana.

Also at the checkpoint, at about 8:52 p.m., police cited a 34-year-old Port Chester, N.Y., man on minor drug charges after they found a small amount of pot on him.
After smelling marijuana during the routine checkpoint stop, officers told the motorist that they detected the odor of pot, and he handed them a black-and-blue case with a multicolored pipe and Zip-loc bag inside that contained marijuana, according to a police report.
He was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of less than .5 ounces of marijuana.
Police made two additional narcotics-related arrests during the DUI checkpoint, though information on them was not immediately available. None of the motorists stopped at the checkpoint were found to be drunk, police said.
