An 18-year-old Norwalk man was arrested last Wednesday afternoon as he walked on Route 123 in New Canaan after a woman driving past saw that he was carrying what looked like a regular gun.
Police received the call at 3:10 p.m. on April 9, from a woman who said she was scared when she saw the teen brandishing the firearm on New Norwalk Road near Lakeview Avenue.
It turned out to be an unholstered bb gun, according to Sgt. Carol Ogrinc of the New Canaan Police Department.
Police charged the teen with second-degree breach of peace and carrying a facsimile firearm.
He was released on $2,500 bond and scheduled to appear April 21 in state Superior Court in Norwalk.

Police arrested an 18-year-old New Canaan man last Monday night after an argument with his mom turned physical.
At about 8:12 on April 7, police responded to a Jelliff Mill Road home after a younger sibling in the home called 911 reporting a confrontation between the older brother and mother, according to a police report.
The mom, 43, wasn’t injured, though she was pushed down some stairs and a portion of a railing broke off in the home, Ogrinc said. Additionally, a coat rack and lamp in the home were knocked over and broke, she said.
The teen was charged with disorderly conduct and second-degree reckless endangerment. He also was cited for possession of less than .5 ounces of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia after police found a pipe and small amount of pot in his room, Ogrinc said.
He was held on $2,500 bond and scheduled to appear April 8 in state Superior Court in Norwalk.
