Police arrested a 33-year-old Forest Street woman Friday night on a slew of charges, including felony risk of injury to a minor, after she exposed herself to a group of youths and bit a teenage girl on the hand.
At about 8:24 p.m. on May 29, a group of young people approached an officer at Outback Teen Center and told him that a woman in her 30s had lifted up her floral-print dress to them, according to a police report. Soon, a 15-year-old girl reported to the officer that the woman had bitten her in the hand just up the hill, in the upper Park Street lot, the report said.
The officer located the woman on Elm Street and caught the woman as she tried to run away, the report said. She was uncooperative and police smelled alcohol on her breath, the report said.
The woman gave an address of 74 Forest St., a multi-family residence recently cited by town officials for running afoul of New Canaan’s blight ordinance.
While she was being processed at headquarters, the woman, who was handcuffed to a bench, swung her feet up and damaged a wall in the booking area, police said.
She was charged with risk of injury to a minor/impairing the morals of a minor, a felony offense, third-degree assault, disorderly conduct, second-degree breach of peace, interfering with an officer and third-degree criminal mischief.
The girl who was bitten was not hurt badly, police said: Her hand was red but the skin was not broken.
The arrested woman was held on $5,000 bond and scheduled to appear June 1 in state Superior Court in Norwalk.
This woman needs help, not jail.
The woman is clearly mentally disturbed, and in need of help.
