Police on Monday made a second arrest in connection with a recent burglary on Smith Ridge Road where $1,800 in jewelry was reported stolen.
Marlo Nael Aguirre, 29, of Testa Place in Norwalk, was charged with third-degree burglary, third-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit third-degree burglary and conspiracy to commit third-degree larceny.
At about 5:21 p.m. on Aug. 15, officers were dispatched to a Smith Ridge Road home on a report of a burglary that occurred some time that day (a Tuesday) between 8:15 a.m. and 4:45 p.m., according to a police report.
The home had been locked, the victim told police, and on returning home items had been disturbed and a window used to enter the residence, police said.
Two days later, Darien police contacted investigators with the New Canaan Police Department about an attempted burglary that had occurred that day, saying a homeowner identified a license plate and that led to Norwalk police taking an assailant and his accomplice (Aguirre) into custody, the report said. The pair confessed to the New Canaan burglary, it said.
Police obtained a warrant and on Sept. 25 traveled to state Superior Court in Stamford to serve it.
Aguirre was held on $5,000 bond and scheduled to appear Oct. 9 in state Superior Court in Norwalk.
