New Canaan Police are investigating the reported theft of a 14-karat men’s gold bracelet valued at $2,000 from a home on South Avenue.
It went missing some time between Oct. 1 and 10, according to a police report. The 86-year-old man who on Oct. 15 reported the theft to police said that a cleaning person does occasionally come to his house, according to Sgt. Carol Ogrinc, public information officer of the New Canaan Police Department.
There were no signs of forced entry at the house, she said.

A 13-year-old New Canaan boy told police that the wallet and iPhone he’d left on the ground at Mill Pond were missing when he returned later to the spot where he’d been fishing with some friends.
The boy caught a fish and went to show his pals, and when he returned to his fishing, found that the wallet (which had $20 cash in it) and iPhone 5 (valued at $300) were gone. A pair of high school-age girls had been sitting nearby, according to the police report, and were gone when the boy returned to the spot.
The matter was reported to police at 5:41 p.m. on Oct. 17 as a larceny. Police are investigating.
