Police on Saturday night arrested a 64-year-old New Canaan man and charged him with evading responsibility.
At about 8:20 p.m. on July 13, officers were dispatched to East Avenue and Route 123 on a report that a vehicle that had been operated erratically crashed into another one and left the scene, police said.
A complainant gave authorities the suspect vehicle’s license plate number and direction of travel, according to a police report.
Officers saw that the struck car was damaged and went to the home where the suspect vehicle was registered, the report said.
There, following an investigation, police determined that the man had been driving at the time of the crash, and left the scene, it said.
He additionally was cited for following too closely.
Police released the man after he posted $250 bond and scheduled him to appear July 24 in state Superior Court in Norwalk.
