A 53-year-old New Canaan man was arrested before dawn Saturday and charged with driving under the influence.
At about 12:38 a.m. on Aug. 27, an officer stopped a motorist who ran a blinking red light at Cherry and Pine Streets, according to a police report.
During the stop, the officer smelled alcohol on the driver’s breath, the report said.
The motorist, a Woodway Ridge Lane man, later field field sobriety tests and was arrested, it said. In addition to DUI, he was charged with failure to obey a traffic control signal, an infraction offense.
The man declined to take a breath test, police said.
He was released on $250 bond and scheduled to appear Aug. 9 in state Superior Court in Norwalk.
