Police: Drug Citations, FTA Charge Following Domestic Incident

Police after midnight Wednesday cited a 24-year-old Norwalk woman for minor drug offenses after finding a small amount of marijuana and smoking paraphernalia during a traffic stop.

At about 12:07 a.m. on Feb. 8, an officer on patrol spotted a vehicle with a defective marker light, according to a police report.

The officer smelled pot emanating from within the vehicle on approach, the report said. An investigation tuned up a small amount of pot and a smoking pipe and grinder, it said.

A 21-year-old Stamford man was cited for minor drug charges after midnight Monday after police found marijuana and smoking gear during a traffic stop.

At about 12:50 a.m. on Feb. 6, an officer on patrol spotted a vehicle traveling north on Old Stamford Road that was not displaying a front license plate, according to a police report.

Approaching the vehicle during a subsequent stop, the officer detected the odor of marijuana, and then found some pot as well as a metal grinder, the report said.

The driver was cited for possession of less than .5 ounces of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police on Feb. 2 arrested a 38-year-old Derby man by arrant and charged him with second-degree failure to appear.

He originally had been charged with third-degree assault and disorderly conduct on April 1, 2016 following a domestic incident, according to a police report.

New Canaan police brought the new charge at 10 a.m. on Feb. 2 while the man already was in custody on a separate matter. He was held on $3,000 and scheduled to appear the same day in state Superior Court in Norwalk.
