Police on Wednesday cited a 20-year-old Norwalk man on drug and alcohol charges after stopping him on South Avenue because the light around his license plate was out.

Stopping the man in his Ford Mustang around 7:07 p.m. near Church Street, an officer approaching the car smelled marijuana, according to a police report.

Searching the vehicle, the officer found a clear plastic bag with marijuana in the center console, the report said, as well a metal grinder and pack of rolling papers.

In the trunk, police found 15 unopened cans of Bud in a 30-pack carton, the report said.

The Norwalk man was cited for possession of less than .5 ounces of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of alcohol by a minor. He also was given a verbal warning for the defective marker light, police said.
