Police after midnight Tuesday arrested a 53-year-old Stamford man by warrant, in connection with his failure to provide contracted painting services two summers ago.

In August of 2015, a homeowner in New Canaan found the Stamford man through Craigslist and signed a contract for painting services, according to a police report.

The resident put down a $1,900 deposit and that check was cashed by the Stamford man, but no services followed, the report said.

Police learned of the incident in December of that year, it said.

The man was charged with fourth-degree larceny, a misdemeanor, as well as Notice in sales agreement and Home improvement without certificate of registration.

Police served the warrant by traveling to the Stamford Police Department, where the man had been held.

He was held on $1,900 bond and scheduled to appear April 18 in state Superior Court in Norwalk.
