Police arrested a Norwalk teen in connection with the theft of FedEx packages that had been delivered in New Canaan last week.
The 17-year-old has been charged with third-degree trespass, fourth-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit fourth-degree larceny, according to a media bulletin issued by Lt. Jason Ferraro, public information officer with the New Canaan Police Department.
Police withheld the teen’s name because of his age.
At about 5 p.m. on Dec. 8, a complaint came in about stolen packages totaling about $1,150 in value and including an iPad and pair of boots, according to a police report.
Based on evidence left on the scene and witness statements, a police investigation led the department’s Investigative Section to secure a warrant to arrest the teen on the above-listed charges, the report said.
“The New Canaan Police remind all residents to utilize surveillance cameras, set your home alarm, report any suspicious activity or vehicles in their neighborhood and remain proactive in protecting your property and valuables,” Ferraro said.
The arrest comes days after police said residents reported two forced-entry burglaries at their homes over the weekend.
