Police on Tuesday night arrested a 29-year-old Florida man who was selling magazines door-to-door without a permit and had been ticketed in surrounding communities for doing the same.
At about 7:26 p.m. on June 21, officers were dispatched to Nubel Lane on a report of a solicitor trying to sell magazine subscriptions, according to a police report.
The man, from Gainsville, admitted to police that he didn’t have a permit to do that, the report said.
A subsequent check showed that police in Norwalk and Wilton had issued infraction summonses to the same man for the same offenses, and that he had not pleaded to nor paid those fines, resulting in paperless arrest warrants, it said.
Police cited him for violating New Canaan’s ordinance on soliciting without a permit and charged him with two counts of failure to respond to an infraction summons.
He was released on $500 bond and scheduled to appear July 6 in state Superior Court in Norwalk.
