Police are looking for man caught last week pocketing another man’s wallet on surveillance video at Dunkin Donuts on Elm Street.
Described as white or Hispanic and five-foot-eight to -10 inches tall, the suspect—see photo at right—is said to have a medium build and was clean-shaven, with short black hair, at the time of the incident.
It happened just after 7 a.m. on July 15 (last Tuesday). According to Sgt. Carol Ogrinc of the New Canaan Police Department, a 55-year-old New Canaan man made his purchase and put his wallet down on the counter, went to sit down briefly at the coffee shop and then realized he must have left his wallet at the register.
But the wallet—which had about $80 of cash in it, as well as credit and debit cards—was gone.
Police reviewing surveillance footage saw the suspect pick it up almost immediate and put it into his pocket.
Anyone with information on the suspect should either phone New Canaan police at 203-594-3500, the anonymous tip line at 203-594-3544 or use the MyPD mobile app.
