Shuttle service was provided between Talmadge Hill and Stamford due to the problem, Metro-North officials said.

“Customers should expect delays of 20 to 30 minutes and are urged to use main line train service,” the train service said. “Please listen for announcements at your station.”

Metro-North was reporting “good service” on the New Canaan branch by midday.

It wasn’t immediately clear what caused the derailment.
